In-Kind Time Tracking

[print-me]The time we all spend on our property making it cleaner and safer (especially in case of a wild fire) is extremely valuable to everyone in the Fruitland Firewise Fire District of Duchesne County.

The funny thing is, a lot of the time that you normally spend improving and cleaning up your property is time that is worth a LOT to all of us.
Not just because it makes your property Cleaner,
Not because it will help slow down and possibly prevent a wild land fire from burning your home or cabin,
But it’s also worth actual $$$ (dollars) to our Fire Fighting Crews.
We just need to know about it!
To get the $$$

WHY and HOW is it worth $$$?
We get matching real monies from the Federal Government for the time we all spend. These monies pay for Fire Fighters and Equipment to fight wildland fires, and when they are not fighting wildland fires, these monies pay the fire fighters and help purchase equipment for them to assist YOU the local land owners in cleaning up fire dangers by creating “Defensible Space” on your property.

So,
WHAT IS YOUR TIME WORTH
and why do we want you to enter it?

*The time value is calculated after all hours are submitted at the end of the year.

What Kinds of Activities can you count?
Anything that you do that can prevent or slow down a wildland fire on your property can be counted AND any motorized equipment you use also adds to the total.
Activities… Removing dead trees or parts thereof, or brush, or weeds and grasses, chipping/shredding debris. Cleaning up, loading and hauling debris to the dump (even the cost of the dump [if you have t pay] counts). Limbing trees, reducing fire fuel around cabins, houses, out buildings and structures. Yes, you even get to count the time you are out working with the Fire Crews that can come and assist you with your cleanup (the fire crews time and equipment is not countable as it is paid for by the grants that come from all of our hours!!).
Equipment usage… We also get to count the cost of equipment used as if it had to be rented like: Chainsaws and gas, ATV’s, Trucks, Trailers, Backhoes, Front-end Loaders, Tractors, Chippers, Shredders, or any other motorized equipment you use to clean up your property.

Do I get Reimbursed for my
time and equipment use?

Answer: NOT in cash $$$
In-Kind time is all volunteer time which also included any equipment of yours or that you borrow or rent to use. HOWEVER all of the VALUE of your time and equipment is submitted to the Federal Government and they match it with real monies in the form of Grants to the Utah Department of Forestry, Fire and State Lands for the prevention and mitigation of Wildland Fires.
This actually can come back to you in additional help and value as you can request help from the Utah Department of Forestry, Fire and State Lands on your property in our Fire District to assist you with limbing trees and brush and chipping/shredding it.

Let me tell you this, when you schedule the fire fighters to come in and help you clean up your defensible space, your property will be clean and look as good as or even better than any state park campground.
